👀 Eye-opening Revelations ✨

Welcome to this week's newsletter!

Hi Reader!

I had a pretty eye-opening revelation the other day. I was washing some dishes that had been left to soak overnight in the kitchen sink and it dawned on me: my default is to rush through these types of chores.

Which is incongruous when you have a blog about homemaking.

And you talk a lot about slowing down and taking the time to enjoy the art of homemaking.

It made me wonder, is rushing through housekeeping type work a leftover from my corporate days when it was drilled into you that the only type of work that mattered was what you did in an office building in front of a computer?

Is it from being a New Englander trapped in the megacity?

Well, whatever it is, it’s going to require some more pondering on my part. I am happy to report, though, that I’ve been practicing being more “present” when I potter around doing my household chores. I’ve even been practicing doing them in silence (without a podcast or music playing in the background) to really get myself in the zone. I mean, why not enjoy doing the things around the house that need to be done anyway. When you do, it helps you feel grateful for things you have, gives you pride of ownership in caring for and maintaining your things, and if all else fails, you can start with counting your blessings. “I’m blessed to put these clean dishes away (again) because it means I have a home full of good food that I’ve enjoyed with people I love and care about.”

That’s what I’ve got so far and until I’ve figured it all out once and for all, I thought it would be a good time to revisit my 7 Day Homemaking Refresh! It’s yours to download for free!

Lemme know if you try it 😃
